OUR MISSION

Mission: The L&M Valentine Foundation is dedicated to addressing the needs of those impacted by mental health issues and illnesses through education and community outreach. 

We will accomplish our mission through direct service with a centered focus on high-risk children, young adults, and veterans. We will ensure that those whom are homeless or destitute due to mental health issues, especially veterans and young children, have much-needed resources such as hygienic items, coats/blankets, food during the holiday season through food drives, and back to school supplies through community outreach and support.  

We will empower high-need individuals to succeed and end the taboo surrounding mental health through education. We will provide mental health trainings and seminars. We will address mental health issues by providing education in Mental Health First Aid by sharing events from the Mental Health Association of Central Carolinas. In the future, we will partner with Mental Health of Greensboro, Mental Health of America Central Carolinas, and Mental Health of America Georgia.   

Additionally, we will increase academic achievement and progress while inspiring students to strive for excellence through The Mekia S. Valentine Scholarship, which has been established at Greensboro Day School to fund books for Sophomore or Junior students of color. While not directly linked to mental health, we recognize the toll that mental stress takes on students of color at white institutions of learning.
